This paper presents a novel encryption method for the secure transmission of medical images in the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) systems. The method combines Feedforward Neural Network (FFNN) architectures for a random key generation with a substitution function using the Sbox of the AES algorithm to ensure high-level security. The FFNNs are trained to generate strong and unpredictable encryption keys, enhancing overall security. The substitution function, based on the AES Sbox, further strengthens security by substituting pixel values with encrypted equivalents. Evaluation results demonstrate the method\'s effectiveness in achieving robust encryption while preserving essential image characteristics. Tests including histogram analysis, entropy evaluation, correlation assessment, and Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) analysis confirm the quality and integrity of the encrypted images. Additionally, the proposed method exhibits low encryption and decryption times, contributing to its efficiency in IoMT systems. This encryption method addresses privacy concerns, ensures data integrity, and is suitable for securely transmitting medical images in IoMT systems.
Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is a monogenic disease, mainly characterized by β-cell destruction, impaired insulin biosynthesis, hyperglycemia, and dominant autosomal mode of inheritance. It is mainly caused by gene mutations. GCK gene is an essential gene for insulin biosynthesis. Any deregulation or mutation of this gene might result in MODY. Thus, nucleotide heterogeneity in this gene may be useful in identifying the probability of MODY occurrence. Purpose of current study is to determine the impact of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in human GCK gene on various properties of encoded protein such as extinction coefficient, aliphatic index, instability index, isoelectric point, half-life, trans-membrane topology, sub-cellular localization 3D configuration and ontology. For this reason, we first retrieved the coding sequence of normal GCK gene transcript ENST00000671824.1 GCK-210 and its forty-nine selected missense, frame-shift & stop gained mutations by using the ENSEMBL database. We incorporated these SNPs into the normal GCK gene coding sequence and constructed mutated coding region. Coding sequences of normal and forty-nine mutated GCK gene coding regions were transcribed into an amino-acid sequence using the Translate tool-Expasy. Then change in the function of protein caused by SNPs was determined by changes in subcellular localization, Ontology, 3D configuration and physical properties using CELLO2GO, PHYRE2 and ProParam-Expasy tools, respectively. Pathogenicity analysis was also performed by using SIFT and PolyPhen tools. It was found that out of the forty-nine SNPs evaluated in the current study, eight variations documented in cases 3 (rs193922259), 11 (rs1554335752), 15 (rs193922295), 16 (rs1064796410), 19 (rs1470521850), 24 (rs104894006), 28 (rs144723656), and 32 (rs1562715426) considerably changed the physicochemical properties, 3D configuration and sub-cellular localization of mutated proteins. Among thirty three SNPs, thirty were deleterious according to SIFT analysis. According to PolyPhen tool sixteen were probably damaging, thirteen were possibly damaging and one was benign. These genetic variations can potentially be used as biomarkers in human to assess the likelihood of having MODY.
The paper describes the data mining within district heating environment (physical data – temperatures and flow rates) as a basis of control and optimization of a particular district heating region. The cycle is defined: the gained data transmission to a cloud solution, subsequent data formatting and their processing by applications designed within the MindSphere® environment. The particular segments of the introduced solution are: design, activation and debugging of the senders of all wireless sensors.
One of the rare presentations of active pulmonary or even extra pulmonary tuberculosis is aseptic polyarthritis with the involvement of multiple large and small joints in the body with no evidence of direct bacillary invasion of the joints; a reactive constellation known as Poncet’s disease. The condition is different from tuberculous arthritis which is usually monoarticular and is caused by direct tubercular involvement of the joint. Polyarthritis as a symptom of active tuberculosis can be easily misinterpreted for more common causes of polyarthritis such as rheumatological diseases that present similarly. We describe a case of Poncet’s disease in a 70-years old lady whose reactive arthritis overshadowed other clinical symptoms of pulmonary TB resulting in delayed diagnosis and treatment. Anti TB treatment was initiated. Clinical remission occurred after two weeks and the diagnosis of Poncet’s arthritis was established concluding that taking a thorough medical history as well as performing relevant examinations and investigations for possible TB especially in endemic areas will help expedite the diagnostic process even in absence of TB symptoms.
Background and Aim: Stress and anxiety can have adverse effects for the mother and baby. Proper prevention requires identifying the predisposing factors for these disorders. Due to the lack of information on stress and anxiety related factors in Iran, this study aimed to determine the relationship between demographic characteristics with stress and anxiety before and after cesarean section in pregnant women referring to Besat Hospital in Sanandaj.\nMaterials and Methods: This descriptive correlational and cross-sectional study on 180 pregnant women undergoing elective cesarean section was performed in 2018. Samples were selected by convenience sampling from referring women to Besat Hospital in Sanandaj. Data were collected using a two-part demographic and midwifery questionnaire and Dass 21 stress and anxiety questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16, descriptive and analytical statistics.\nResults: The results showed that there was a significant relationship between age, educational level, income level, history of surgery and cesarean section, marital satisfaction and gender satisfaction of infant with stress and anxiety before and after cesarean section (p <0.05).\nConclusion: Factors affecting the level of stress and anxiety in this study can help screening pregnant women at risk of stress and anxiety, assisting physicians, health care providers, and treatment staff. It is also recommended to design supportive and preventive programs for pregnant women.
Amdahl\'s and Gustafson-Barsis\'s laws, which belong to the most influential concepts in parallel and distributed processing, describe limits on the speedup obtained owing to parallelization of an application when the sequential fraction of the time of the execution of it on, respectively, sequential and parallel machines, are given.\nIn the literature these two laws are derived separately or their connections are shown in rather complicated ways.\nIn this paper it is shown that by simple arithmetic transformations in few lines Gustafson-Barsis\'s Law can be obtained from Amdahl\'s Law and vice-versa.
The purpose of this paper measured differences of inequality of opportunities (IOP) across time and space. We used a set of circumstances such as institutions, fractionalization, economic status of country and exclusion base on family characteristic and group based like race, class, gender etc. Findings show IOP are engendered income differences. Vertical inequality of opportunities is in some way persistent across developing countries while horizontal inequality is found in developed countries. This study also found upper middle-income countries trend of vertical, horizontal, and composite IOP trends remain constant.
As expressed by numerous researchers, fine-grained stream sediment sampling occupies its first place for geochemical sampling media during regional mineral exploration programs in the world where there is a well-developed drainage system. In Au and Ag exploration, the analysis of Bulk Leach Extractable Gold (BLEG) settles in the first place whereas acid-extractable Au in the -80# stream sediment fraction has been commonly used during follow up of the BLEG results. The Eskisehir-Sivrihisar region in Western Turkey includes several orogenic type mineral deposits including Au-bearing quartz vein systems. Using a geochemical database generated through company’s exploration campaigns, this research compares the capability of conventional statistical methods (such as Q-Q, Mean + 2STD, Median + 2MAD) and principal component analysis (PCA), with concentration area (C-A) and number-size (N-S) fractal methods and singularity index (SI) method to differentiate anomalous and background Au distributions or define areas with geochemical signals related to mineralization (given singularity index mapping does not define threshold values). Gold mineralizations discovered in the area of interest in the past were re-uncovered by BLEG Au stream sediment anomalies, which have used robust singularity indices with C-A and N-S multifractal modeling and PCA. 85% of the Au deposits were defined using either BLEG Ag or <180µm stream sediment Ag data. Conventional approaches to anomaly detection for the BLEG and <180µm stream sediment data failed to detect a number of significant deposits, including some in the vicinity of Sivrihisar.
Bio-accumulation of heavy metals in various species of yeasts investigated worldwide because of low cost and significant importance. Saccharomyces cerevisiae is useful to explore those biological mechanisms which occur in higher eukaryotes. Yeast was grown in the presence of 1,2,5,7 and 10µg/ml Cu2+ respectively. Accumulation of copper by S.cerevisiae is correlated with variation in protein contents of yeast. Decreased total proteins with increasing Cu2+ concentration were observed. Extracted proteins were employed to sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Molecular mass of individual protein, separated by SDS-PAGE, was determined. Some new proteins of high molecular mass were found at 2µg/ml, 5µg/ml and 7µg/ml Cu2+ concentrations.
